The Tito Schipa Conservatory of Music, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecce, continued the summer artistic programming at the Villa Comunale with a very interesting concert entitled “SONGS OF THE SEA”. The concert was part of the activities related to the interreg EArPieCe Italy-Albania-Montenegro project in partnership with the Dhithec of Lecce, the Campobasso Conservatory, the Akademia Muzika of Tirana and the Association of Young Artists of Montenegro.
The research theme of the interreg project is linked to popular music, its variations in the various territories, the contamination between cultured and popular music as well as the "popularity" of the use of the classical repertoire.
Popular music from the various territories involved in the research project was presented in this concert with an explanatory introduction of the stylistic and musical
characteristics of the various pieces. The protagonists of the evening were the teachers of ethnomusicology Nabil Bey Salameh (voice, tar, guitars, live electronic) and Pasquale Fabrizio Piepoli (voice, piano, guitars, sax, oud, live electronics) accompanied by the students Alessandra Chiga (percussions), Morris Pellizzari (guitar), Claudia Di Palma (voice), Anna Rita Di Leo (voice).
The concert was a real success with an enthusiastic audience of the repertoire and the performance of the performers.
